JOAB is developing a new solution for FMV

JOAB wins major defense contract

JOAB has been awarded a new framework agreement by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the delivery of a newly developed bridge layer, the Bridge Adapter Pallet (BAP). This flexible and cost-effective solution provides the Swedish Armed Forces with entirely new opportunities to utilize their vehicle fleet more efficiently.

This deal marks a significant milestone for JOAB, as it is the first time the company delivers a complete solution directly to the Swedish Armed Forces. It represents an important step in JOAB’s continued development within the national defense sector.

"The BAP is the result of our innovation capabilities, and it feels fantastic to contribute to a more flexible and cost-effective defense," says Stefan Hartzén, CEO of JOAB.

How the BAP works
The BAP is a specially developed platform system with integrated winch and arm mechanisms, designed to meet the Armed Forces’ requirements for flexibility, durability, and streamlined logistics. Unlike previous solutions that were tied to specialized vehicles, the BAP can be used on virtually any vehicle equipped with a hook lift or container mounts—both civilian and military. The platform can be easily transferred between different vehicle types, resulting in significant cost savings and increased operational mobility.

"With the BAP, the Armed Forces can utilize their vehicle fleet much more efficiently while simplifying logistics" says Karl-Henrik Karlsson, CTO at JOAB.

Production in Dals Rostock
The first series deliveries are planned for 2026. Production will take place at JOAB’s newly adapted manufacturing facility in Dals Rostock—an investment that strengthens both our production capacity and our role within Sweden’s total defense infrastructure.
